I was raised in Detroit, a small town in Northeast Texas. I grew up in the Midway community where, thanks to my parents, I learned the value of hard work! I was actively involved in church and 4-H activities as a child.
I graduated from Detroit ISD in 1983, attended college at PJC , and later transferred to East Texas State University-Commerce where I received a B.S. in Education. In 2008-2010, I trained as a dyslexia therapist at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. I have taught school 16 years, and this is my 10th year to serve Detroit ISD as a dyslexia therapist. I am currently working on my Master’s degree through Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX and am beginning Qualified Instructor (QI) training.
My husband, Jeff, and I have been married for 31 years and have three sons, Jacob, Samuel, and Weston. We attend the church of Christ in Fulbright, TX where my husband has preached for 19 years. Our family loves to hunt, fish, and go camping.
I love my job! I have two dyslexic sons, Jacob & Samuel, and they fuel my passion as a dyslexia therapist. I believe every child has the right to learn to read and feel good about themselves!
