The APs in the High School Gym failed right around the time we filed our 470 so we will be replacing them outside of this E-Rate project.

Question submitted by Cassie Bryant, IK Network Solutions

There must be at least one Layer 3 capable switch at each location.

Question submitted by Advanced Networks of Texas

As noted in the RFP, we are requesting at least 1 Gbps on all copper ethernet ports and at least 10Gbps on fiber links.

Question submitted by Advanced Networks of Texas

We are not specifying an exact model of switches or APs. The only requirement is that it meet the specifications in the RFP.

We would like the 5-year or longer licensing for all switches, APs, and other network equipment proposed.

See the following from the RFP:

  • Replace currently deployed access points

  • Must support 25+ students per classroom

  • If proposing access points in locations where one does not already exist, include the cost of moving an existing cable run or pulling new cable back to the nearest network closet

We are asking for enough APs to service 25+ students per classroom. If that can be accomplished with the current number and layout of APs as noted on the building maps, there is no need for additional APs. If that can’t be accomplished with the current number and layout of APs, please include pulling cable to any new locations from the nearest network closet.

Please note, we are keeping some recently replaced switches and APs, see the RFP for details.

It sounds like you’re describing a lit fiber WAN connection, which is not something we’re bidding at this time. Our WAN connection is already under contract until June 30, 2025.
