Detroit ISD Video Security System

Detroit ISD has partnered with KLC Video Security in Texarkana, Texas. KLC provides us with the latest in DVR and Video camera technology.

A DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is located on each campus, and is tied together via central monitoring software. Each System is on battery backup for extra protection during power failure situations. The Superintendent, Campus Principals, and Campus secretaries has full monitoring capabilities. The District SRO Officer, Officer Smith, monitors the systems, and has full access to recording files.

Detroit ISD BURGLAR/FIRE Security System

Detroit ISD has partnered with All Pro Security in Mount Pleasant, Texas. All Pro Security provides 24/7 monitoring service for all campus Burglar and Fire alarm systems. All Pro Security installed new systems in 2006 for our campuses, and administration office. Buttons on the alarm panel are programmed to call 911 when pushed during an emergency.

Detroit ISD NETWORK/COMPUTER SECURITY

 Detroit ISD has an extensive network and computer security system in place. Each Campus has a FIREWALL, and a WEB FILTER. The FIREWALL blocks traffic such as: viruses, adware, hackers, and other un-wanted files and systems that try and enter the Detroit ISD Network. The WEB FILTER blocks inappropriate websites from being seen by students and staff, such as porn, fake websites, hacking sites, most picture posting sites, MY Space, Youtube, and many other inappropriate sites. We are always adding sites to the block list. The Network administrator can monitor and see where each computer in the District has been within the past year. Cache is saved then deleted from the Firewall and Web Filters.

We also have Symantec Client Security Corporate installed on the network that monitors each computer in the district for viruses, and spyware. Symantec Client Security is used in addition to the virus filters in the Firewall and Web Filters. If a teacher or student brings a disk, jump drive, or CD from home that has a virus, the Symantec Client Security will catch it, and isolate it on that one computer.

In addition to the local Firewall, and Web Filters, The Region 8 service center has a Region level Firewall and Web Filter in place for added protection.

All the Firewalls, Web Filters, and Security programs within the District and Region are updated hourly.
