From the Superintendent, Welcome to Detroit ISD!

I am pleased to have you visiting the DISD website and hope that if you do not find what you are looking for you will feel free to give us a call and let us help you. Likewise, you are welcome to visit our campuses by checking in through the principal’s office. We encourage parent and community participation in our schools because these partnershipsare important to the educational success of our students.

Detroit ISD is committed to challenging, stimulating, and motivating students to reach their individual educational, social, and emotional potential. This is accomplished by providing a safe, clean, and friendly environment in which students and staff interact and learn each day. The District has implemented to vertically aligned C-SCOPE curriculum which provides for the rigor necessary for students to master the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for each core subject; math, science, reading/English-language arts, and social studies. DISD teachers are trained in the use of the curriculum and instructional strategies and we focus on continuous improvement so that we can meet the needs of our students.

Students in the Detroit ISD have the opportunity to expand their individual knowledge and skills through career and technology courses, high school and college dual credit offerings, and a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including elementary, middle, and high school Academic UIL; FFA; Family, Career, Community Leaders of America; BETA Club; Student Council; One Act Play; Debate;Cheerleading; Cross Country; Football; Volleyball; Basketball; Track;and Golf.
